MaxAEO Review 2026
Covers AI visibility, sentiment, citation tracking and optimization workflows in one self-serve tool, aimed at small businesses and startups.
Key takeaways
- MaxAEO is a cheap, easy entry point into AI visibility tracking: plans start at $19/mo, setup takes about 3 minutes, and no engineering work is needed.
- It monitors 8 engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, Google AI Mode, AI Overview) with daily checks and replayable answers.
- Compared with Promptwatch, it lacks AI crawler logs, visitor analytics and traffic attribution, a Content Agent with CMS publishing, Reddit/YouTube/LinkedIn tracking, prompt volumes, query fan-outs, Fact Check and shopping or ads tracking.
- The optimization engine is still in Beta, and the lower tiers cap you at 10 prompts (Starter) or 100 (Growth), with fewer than 8 engines below Pro.
- Best for small teams that want a simple dashboard and a weekly to-do list. Less suited to agencies, enterprises or anyone who needs the work done for them.
MaxAEO is an answer engine optimization tool operated by HIII PTE. LTD. The pitch is plain: it asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and five other AI engines your buyers' questions every day, records who gets recommended, and gives you a ranked list of things to publish each Monday. Founding date, headcount and funding are not disclosed, so this is a young product with little public track record.
The target is clearly small businesses and startups. The onboarding wizard drafts your brand profile, competitors and 10 starter prompts from your website, and you confirm them. First data arrives in about three minutes. There is no tracking script to install, which removes the biggest barrier for non-technical founders.
I like how little it pretends. The FAQ states that AI decides what it recommends and that MaxAEO does not promise rankings. That honesty is rare in this category.
Key features
Daily live checks across 8 engines. MaxAEO says it asks each engine as a real user rather than pulling an API snapshot. The engines are ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overview. Every prompt is re-asked once a day on each engine you select. Vendor claims put the stored archive at 500K+ real answers. Real-interface collection matters because user-facing answers and citations often differ from API outputs.
Visibility, rank and share of answers. The dashboard shows a visibility percentage (for the Notion demo, 70.0%, mentioned in 392 of 560 answers), competitive rank among a set of brands, average position, and a per-engine breakdown. A trend line over seven days is emphasized over any single scan, which is sensible given how much AI answers fluctuate day to day.
Sentiment with the sentence attached. Each answer is classed positive, neutral or negative, and the finding links to the exact sentence. In the demo, 69% of mentions were positive. Quotes make it easy to see why a model likes or distrusts you, for example a Perplexity line warning against using a tool for complex campaign operations.
Citation tracing. You see which domains the engines cite, how many citations come from your own site versus third parties (in the demo, 99.1% third-party and 0.9% notion.com), and which sites dominate. This tells you where to place content: the demo shows larksuite.com, youtube.com and reddit.com leading. It is a useful reality check, though it stops at domain-level and answer-level data rather than page-level crawl paths.
Competitor benchmarking. Same prompts, same engines, with each competitor's visibility, position, sentiment and sources next to yours. A topic-by-brand grid shows exactly which competitors win which questions. Competitor limits are 5 on Starter and 8 on other tiers.
Answer replay. Every engine's answer to a prompt is kept verbatim, so you can read what ChatGPT, Grok or Claude actually said on a given day. This is the feature I would use most for client or boss conversations, because screenshots of raw answers beat abstract scores.
Prompt generation. The AI drafts prompts from your site and you edit them. Prompts, platforms and competitors can be changed at any time. Prompt volume and difficulty data are not mentioned, so you are choosing prompts on judgment rather than demand estimates.
Optimization engine (Beta). Each Monday it ranks three or so to-dos by gap size, with a reason and steps. Examples in the demo: publish a guide on a topic where only 9% of answers mention you, answer a question in a Reddit community, or add a comparison page with a citable feature table. Once you mark something published, MaxAEO tracks which engine cites it and on what day. The pricing page mentions draft articles with actions. It is a good concept, but it is Beta and the review timeline in the demo is labelled illustrative.
Free tools. There is an AI Visibility Checker, an AEO Checker (AI crawler access, llms.txt, sitemap and schema) and an AI Overview Checker. They give a taste before you commit.
Developer tooling. A GitHub repo, maxaeo-ai-visibility-agent-kit, holds command-mode audit workflows for GEO/AEO, llms.txt and AI crawler readiness. It works with Claude, Codex, Cursor and MCP agents and is published to the MCP Registry and npm. Handy for technical users, but it is early-stage with 21 commits.
Who is it for
The sweet spot is a solo founder, a two-person marketing team at a seed-stage SaaS company, or a local services business that wants to know whether ChatGPT recommends them. If you track 10 to 100 prompts and need a clear weekly list without learning a complex platform, MaxAEO fits. The Starter plan is cheap enough to try as an experiment.
Growth ($149/mo, 3 brands, 100 prompts) suits small consultancies or in-house teams with a few product lines. Pro ($399/mo, 10 brands, 400 prompts, all 8 engines) can serve a small agency, though it has no white-label portal, pitch projects or agency-specific workflow that I could find.
Who should skip it? Enterprises with security reviews will want ISO certification and SSO, neither of which is listed here. Content-heavy teams that need automated writing and CMS publishing will find the optimization engine too light. Technical SEOs who want to know whether AI bots can actually reach each page will miss crawler logs. Brands with large prompt sets get stuck because prompts can't be bought as add-ons.
Integrations and ecosystem
This is the thin part. I found no Slack, Zapier, BI, CMS or public API integrations. The product is browser-based. The only ecosystem pieces are the agent kit and MCP registry listing, which help people who audit sites through AI coding agents. There is no mention of Google Search Console, Bing, Looker Studio or WordPress publishing, and no mention of CSV exports. Check with the vendor before assuming any of these exist.
Support is by email ([email protected]), and sales via [email protected]. Official channels are X (@MaxaeoAI), YouTube (@MaxAEOai) and GitHub. There is no G2 or Capterra listing, so independent ratings are absent.
Pricing and value
Every account gets a 7-day free trial with no card: 1 brand, 10 prompts, 8 competitors and all 8 engines, with daily checks. After seven days monitoring pauses and data stays until you subscribe. There is also a free AI visibility diagnosis.
- Starter: $19/mo ($15/mo billed yearly at $180). 1 brand, 10 prompts, any 4 of 8 platforms, 5 competitors, 1-year history.
- Growth: $149/mo ($119/mo yearly, $1,428). 3 brands, 100 shared prompts, any 6 platforms, 8 competitors.
- Pro: $399/mo ($319/mo yearly, $3,828). 10 brands, 400 shared prompts, all 8 platforms.
- Enterprise: custom, with unlimited brands, prompts and competitors, a dedicated manager, and quarterly or annual contracts.
The pricing page says every plan has every feature, but the engine count differs, so read that carefully. Billing quirks: credit cards only (except Enterprise), auto-renewal, and cancellation requires emailing the company. A prorated refund is available for unused time.
For value, $19 is very low, but 10 prompts is a thin sample. For comparison, Promptwatch's Essential plan is $95/mo with 50 prompts and all AI models, and its Professional plan is $245/mo with 150 prompts. MaxAEO is cheaper at the bottom, but Promptwatch includes crawler logs, visitor analytics, Brand Narrative and Agent Chat on every plan, and it runs far more than monitoring. Confirm Promptwatch prices at promptwatch.com/pricing.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Very fast setup and a clean demo you can open without logging in.
- Low entry price with a no-card trial.
- Answer replay and sentence-level sentiment make findings easy to verify.
- A weekly prioritized to-do list gives small teams a clear next step.
- Honest framing that rankings are not promised.
Limitations
- Monitoring-first. Compared with Promptwatch, MaxAEO has no content gap analysis with coverage scores, no Content Agent that writes and publishes to WordPress, Webflow or Framer, and no Content Refresh for existing pages.
- No IP-verified AI crawler logs, no crawl-to-citation tracking and no visitor analytics, so you cannot see AI-referred traffic or conversions. No Google Search Console or Bing data sits beside AI data.
- No Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn or Instagram citation reports, no offsite mentions, no ChatGPT Shopping or Amazon Alexa product tracking and no Ads Radar.
- No prompt volumes or difficulty scoring, no query fan-outs, no Brand Narrative or Fact Check, no local GEO targeting and no faster-than-daily tracking. It covers 8 engines, while Promptwatch covers about 20 engines and models, including Meta AI, Amazon Alexa and coding agents.
- Starter covers only 4 engines, prompts cannot be bought as add-ons, cancellation is by email, and the Beta optimization engine plus the thin integration list show an early product with no third-party reviews.

Bottom line
MaxAEO is a sensible first tool for a founder who wants to see how AI engines talk about their brand without spending hundreds a month or involving developers. The daily checks, replayable answers and Monday to-do list cover the basics well. Start with the free trial and the live demo, and judge the Beta optimization engine yourself.
If you want optimization rather than monitoring, Promptwatch is the stronger choice. It adds crawler logs, traffic attribution, a Content Agent with CMS publishing, and tracking that checks whether each published page was crawled, cited and clicked. Try its 7-day free trial or the free AI visibility report.
Best use case: a small startup that wants cheap daily AI visibility tracking and a simple weekly to-do list.
