SISTRIX Review 2026

Established SEO toolset that has added AI visibility tracking, suited to teams wanting classic SEO data alongside AI search monitoring.

Key takeaways

  • SISTRIX is a mature, Europe-focused SEO suite (Visibility Index, keyword research, backlinks, on-page crawler, Amazon data) with AI visibility tracking added on top, free in every plan while it stays in beta.
  • Monitoring-oriented on the AI side: it lacks AI crawler logs, AI traffic attribution, Brand Narrative and Fact Check, Reddit/YouTube/LinkedIn citation reports, ChatGPT Shopping and Ads Radar, and an agentic Content Agent with CMS publishing that Promptwatch provides.
  • AI coverage is four platforms (Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity), versus roughly twenty engines and models tracked by Promptwatch, including Gemini, Copilot, Claude and Meta AI.
  • Pricing starts at EUR 119 per month and the Start plan is thin: 3 months of history, one user, no API.
  • Best for SEO teams and agencies in DACH and wider Europe who already live in Visibility Index reports.

SISTRIX is an SEO toolbox from SISTRIX GmbH in Germany, founded by Johannes Beus. It became known for the Visibility Index, a single score for how visible a domain is in Google that has been used since 2008 and is often quoted in German-language SEO reporting. The suite covers over 100 million domains in more than 30 countries, with an eleven-year data history on higher plans.

In the last year it has added an AI layer. Prompt Monitoring launched in November 2025, and since then the company has shipped AI Check, an AI Visibility Index, AI Deep Dives, cross-channel reports, and an MCP Server. The audience is SEO professionals, agencies and in-house teams, particularly in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Italy, where SISTRIX has localized sites.

The pitch is simple: keep your classic Google, Amazon and on-page data, and see your AI answer visibility next to it, without paying for a second tool. That is a real advantage for existing users. Whether it is enough for teams that treat AI search as its own channel is a different question.

Key features

Visibility Index and domain analysis. This is still the core. You enter a domain and see how it performs in Google, with history, competitors, ranking keywords, winners and losers, and SERP features. Data loads in fractions of a second. History depth depends on plan: 3 months on Start, 5 years on Plus, 11 years on Professional and Premium. Reviewers from PrettyLittleThing to German agencies single this report out as the reason they stay.

Keyword research and SERP updates. Keyword Discovery covers billions of keywords, and you can refresh individual keywords or lists on demand. Each plan has a monthly SERP update allowance (2,500 on Start up to 100,000 on Premium), with overage billed per update. Third-party reviewers on Capterra call keyword tracking limited on lower tiers, and I would check those quotas against your list size before buying.

Backlink index. Link data comes from SISTRIX, Majestic and other partners. It is good enough for competitor link source checks and monitoring your own links, but link intelligence is not why people choose SISTRIX, and dedicated link tools go deeper.

On-page crawler and projects. Projects power on-page audits, keyword tracking and monitoring. The crawler is built on Googlebot-like technology, handles JavaScript and can use a smartphone viewport. Monthly crawl budgets run from 30,000 URLs on Start to 4 million on Premium, with extra pages at about EUR 0.14 to 0.21 per 1,000. The March 2026 changelog admits earlier problems with unclear errors and interrupted crawls, and the overhaul addressed them.

AI Check. Shows how visible brands and domains are in AI answers without setting up a project. A July 2026 update added three analyses: how AI systems perceive a brand, strengths and weaknesses against competitors, and the purchase scenarios where it gets recommended. Each statement links back to the original quote and prompt, which is a good detail for credibility.

Prompt Monitoring and Prompt Research. You define prompt sets and track them over time with sentiment and tags by model, topic or campaign. April 2026 added automatic AI tag suggestions and domain-to-brand linking so citations count as well as mentions. Prompt Research adds buyer persona, intent split, customer-journey stage and search volume, and is available via API and MCP since August 2026. The pricing table lists 9,300 prompt updates per month on Start up to 139,500 on Premium. The AI page cites a different 100 prompts figure for Start, so confirm what each number measures before you size a plan.

AI Visibility Index. One score, broken down by OpenAI, Google AI and Perplexity. It is a clean number for reporting to non-specialists, in the same spirit as the classic Visibility Index. Tracked platforms are Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity. There is no Gemini app, Copilot, Claude or Meta AI coverage listed.

AI Deep Dives. Launched June 2026 with seven analyses and gained a chat feature in August. They combine deterministic SISTRIX data with AI interpretation. The November 2026 version puts Visibility Index changes in context, shows keyword, link and AI-answer gaps against competitors, and prioritizes on-page results. It is a useful way to turn raw tables into a to-do list, though it stays at the analysis level.

Content tools. Content Projects, Content Planner (topic clusters), Content Discovery across a billion examples and plagiarism checks are available from Plus. A Software Advice reviewer says the older editor cannot compete with Searchmetrics, and competitor blogs call content features shallow. They are an add-on to the suite, not a reason to buy it.

Amazon marketplace analysis. Product research across five countries, brand and retailer analysis, and category checks. Few classic SEO suites cover Amazon this directly, which matters for e-commerce teams.

Reports, dashboards and alerts. Reports can combine Google, Amazon and AI visibility in one document (October 2026), publish as a link, export to PowerPoint or PDF, and send on a chosen day. White-label PDFs start at the Professional plan. Alerts go by email or Slack.

Who is it for

The sweet spot is an SEO team of 3 to 12 people in a German-speaking or Southern European company, or an agency serving clients there, that already reports monthly on Visibility Index trends. An e-commerce SEO manager at a retailer with Amazon exposure gets particular value, since Google, Amazon and AI data sit in the same cross-channel reports. Agencies pitching new business like the speed of domain analysis, and one reviewer compares it to having a research team.

It works for in-house teams at larger brands too. SISTRIX lists Amazon, Bosch, DHL, Decathlon and eBay on its homepage, and Allianz, MediaMarkt, Red Bull, Telekom and Zalando on its AI page. Those logos are vendor-supplied.

Who should skip it? Freelancers on tight budgets: a G2 reviewer says the price is hard to carry, and the Start plan at EUR 119 has one user and no API. Teams that need deep global keyword coverage outside Europe or heavy backlink analysis will find specialists stronger. And anyone whose main goal is to improve AI search visibility, not just measure it, will hit the ceiling of a monitoring layer fast.

Integrations and ecosystem

  • API. Limited access (Visibility Index data only) on Plus, full access on Professional and Premium. Export and API credits run from 1,000 per week on Start to 100,000 on Premium, with extra 10k blocks at EUR 75.
  • MCP Server. First launched in August 2025 so chatbots can query SISTRIX data. Since May 2026 it is open to all users through OAuth, which partly contradicts the pricing table's API limits.
  • Google Search Console and Analytics connections, plus Slack and email alerts.
  • Exports. PDF and PowerPoint reports, plus data exports limited by results per analysis (10,000 on Start up to unlimited on Premium).
  • Learning resources. Free tools that need no account, a free Academy course, Ask SISTRIX knowledge base, workshops and a handbook. Support is human, with reported chat response times under 10 minutes during working hours.
  • Privacy. Data is held in Europe, a selling point for German and EU procurement teams.

There is no browser extension or mobile app to speak of, and no official GitHub or Discord community that I could find.

Pricing and value

Plans are billed monthly, plus taxes. A third-party snippet suggests EUR 99 per month on annual billing for Start, which I could not verify on the official page.

  • Start, EUR 119. 1 user, 3 projects, 30,000 crawled URLs, 3 months of history, 3 reports, no API.
  • Plus, EUR 239 (most popular). 3 users (extra seats EUR 24.90), 15 projects, 500,000 crawled URLs, 5 years of history, content tools, limited API.
  • Professional, EUR 419. 6 users, 40 projects, 2 million crawled URLs, full 11-year history, full API, white-label reports, phone support.
  • Premium, EUR 799. 12 users, 100 projects, 4 million crawled URLs, unlimited results per analysis, roles and rights management and audit log.

AI visibility is free in every plan during the beta, with a 14-day free trial and no cancellation needed per the vendor. Reviewers such as Gerry White call it amazing value compared to pricier suites. That holds for classic SEO. For AI-focused work, Promptwatch starts at $95 per month with the Content Agent and crawler logs on higher tiers, so cost comparisons depend on what you need. Beta status also means the free pricing may change, so budget accordingly.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • The Visibility Index is a trusted, fast benchmark with long history.
  • One suite for Google, Amazon and AI, with cross-channel reports.
  • AI Check statements are backed by original quotes and prompts.
  • Strong European data handling and human support.
  • Free AI tracking with an MCP Server and API access to prompt research.

Limitations

  • AI coverage is four platforms, still in beta, and appears to be monitoring and analysis only.
  • Versus Promptwatch, it lacks IP-verified AI crawler logs, AI traffic and conversion attribution, Brand Narrative and Fact Check, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram citation tracking, ChatGPT Shopping and Ads Radar, query fan-out analysis, local targeting at exact coordinates, hourly tracking, an Action Board, and a Content Agent that publishes to WordPress, Webflow or Framer and tracks results. Its content tools are a separate classic writing workflow, not tied to AI citation gaps.
  • Lower tiers are restrictive (3-month history on Start, quotas on SERP updates), and reviewers cite limited backlink intelligence, weaker global keyword coverage outside Europe and an older UX in places.

Bottom line

If your team already trusts the Visibility Index and wants AI mention tracking without another contract, SISTRIX is a sensible pick, especially at Plus or Professional. You get a long history, Amazon data, and decent reporting, with AI features that are improving quickly.

If your goal is to grow revenue from AI search and not just watch it, Promptwatch is the stronger choice: it tracks 20 engines and models, shows which pages AI bots crawl and cite, attributes traffic, and writes and publishes the content to close gaps. See its comparison of GEO platforms or browse bestgeosoftware.com for more options. Best use case for SISTRIX: European SEO teams reporting Google, Amazon and AI visibility from one place.
