Key takeaways
- I found no source that accuses Ranketta of copying Promptwatch, and no evidence of any legal or IP dispute. The question itself is worth taking seriously, but the evidence doesn't support the label.
- Multi-engine tracking, citation analysis, AI content generation and MCP access are now standard across the GEO category. Overlap alone proves nothing.
- The real differences are focus and depth: Ranketta is built around product feeds and merchandising for e-commerce, while Promptwatch is a broader brand-visibility platform with first-party crawler logs and published research.
- Use a six-point checklist (first-party data, real-interface collection, IP-verified crawlers, prompt counting, target segment, date-stamped prices) to judge any GEO vendor.
- Everything about Ranketta below is a vendor claim from its own site. I could not find independent reviews.
Why people ask whether Ranketta is a copycat
Open the Ranketta site and you see a familiar pitch: track how AI engines mention your brand, find the gaps, fix them. Open Promptwatch and you see something that sounds similar. If you've looked at ten GEO tools in a week, they start to blur together, and "is this just a clone?" is a fair reaction.
But a fair reaction isn't a finding. I looked for any source that calls Ranketta a copycat, or that reports a dispute between the two companies. There isn't one. The vendors' own pages are the main source material, so treat everything here as claims rather than independent tests.
What's more useful than a verdict is a method. GEO is a crowded category, with hundreds of tools in the catalog at surferstack.com, and the look-alike problem isn't going away. So this guide does two things: compares Ranketta and Promptwatch on what each says it does, then gives you a checklist you can reuse on any vendor.
What Ranketta says it is

Ranketta positions itself at e-commerce, D2C brands and agencies. Its headline on the AI Overviews page is "Not just brand visibility tracking." The pitch is that most platforms count brand mentions, while Ranketta tracks every product and fixes the product data holding it back.
Claimed features, per its site:
- Product-level visibility tracking and a Merchandising agent that rewrites titles, descriptions and attributes, with confidence scores
- Prompt research with demand signals, citation tracking and a content studio
- Continuous site audit
- An MCP server with tools like list_prompts, get_citations and run_site_audit
- Looker Studio integration and AI bot traffic attribution via Cloudflare
It claims 1,200+ brands (T-Mobile, O2, Rossmann, Skoda, E.ON among the logos) and 4.9/5 on G2. The customer logos and testimonials lean Czech and European: BrainMarket, Rossmann, Vilgain, GymBeam. I couldn't independently verify the G2 rating or the logos, and I found no independent reviews, founding date or ownership details.
What Promptwatch is
Promptwatch is an AI search visibility and GEO platform. It tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot and other engines mention and cite a brand, then traces why through citations and IP-verified AI crawler logs. From there it acts: the Action Board prioritizes fixes, the Content Agent writes and publishes pages to WordPress, Webflow or Framer, and visitor analytics measure what traffic AI actually sends.
It is used by 1,840+ brands and agencies and rated 4.7/5 on G2. Full disclosure on my side: this site is published by 1001 SEO Media, which uses Promptwatch as its own GEO platform, so I'm not neutral. Weigh my comparison accordingly and check the claims yourself.

Side-by-side: where they overlap and where they don't
| Area | Ranketta (vendor claims) | Promptwatch |
|---|---|---|
| Core focus | Product feeds, merchandising, e-commerce | Brand visibility across AI engines, end to end |
| Multi-engine tracking | Yes, tiered by plan; some models labelled Premium | Yes, all supported models on every plan |
| Citation analysis | Yes | Yes, plus Citation Trends by content and source type |
| AI content generation | Content studio, Merchandising agent | Content Agent with CMS publishing, Content Refresh |
| MCP access | Yes | Yes, 110+ tools, plus REST API |
| Crawler / bot data | AI bot traffic attribution via Cloudflare | IP-verified crawler logs joined to citations |
| Shopping and ads | Product-centric tracking | ChatGPT Shopping insights and Ads Radar (Business) |
| Published research | None found in what I checked | Promptwatch Data reports |
| Pricing currency | EUR | USD (EUR also listed) |
The top four rows are the overlap. Those capabilities are table stakes now. Plenty of tools in the GEO software directory at bestgeosoftware.com offer them. If shared features made a copycat, the whole category would be one.
The bottom rows are where the products actually diverge, and they mostly come down to segment. Ranketta is shaped around a product catalog. Promptwatch is shaped around a brand and its pages.
Pricing compared (checked November 2026)
Prices shift, and third parties often list stale numbers. One comparison page and one blog post I found still show Promptwatch at $99 and $249. The official page says otherwise, so confirm at promptwatch.com/pricing and ranketta.com/pricing.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Ranketta Tracker | EUR 29/mo | 2 models, 30 prompts per model, 1 site, 1 country, MCP |
| Ranketta Starter | EUR 79/mo | 3 models, 50 prompts per model, 5k credits, merchandising |
| Ranketta Growth | EUR 199/mo | 4 models, 100 prompts per model, 15k credits, 2 sites, 3 countries |
| Ranketta Scale | EUR 449/mo | 5 models, 300 prompts per model, 45k credits, 5 sites, 10 countries |
| Promptwatch Essential | $95/mo | 1 project, 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, daily tracking, Agent Chat |
| Promptwatch Professional | $245/mo | 2 projects, 150 prompts, 18,000 responses, 5 AEO articles |
| Promptwatch Business | $579/mo | 5 projects, 350 prompts, 42,000 responses, Content Agent, hourly tracking |
Don't compare the headline numbers directly
This is the part people get wrong. Ranketta counts prompts per model, so 30 prompts across 2 models is 60 prompt runs. Promptwatch counts prompts across all models. A "100 prompts" plan at one vendor and a "100 prompts" plan at the other are not the same thing. Convert everything to responses or prompt runs before deciding.
Also note that Ranketta labels Alexa, Claude, Copilot, Grok and Meta Muse as Premium models, while Promptwatch tracks all supported models on every plan. Which matters more depends on whether you need those engines.
A checklist for telling originals from look-alikes
Here is the method I'd actually use, whether the vendor is Ranketta, Promptwatch or something launched last week.
1. Does the vendor publish first-party data?
Look for named datasets with dates and methods. Promptwatch publishes AI Crawler Traffic, a weekly breakdown of IP-verified requests from June 8 to September 6, 2026. In that data, OpenAI made up 79.8% of verified AI crawler requests in the week of Aug 31 to Sep 6, down from 94.8% in the week of Jun 8 to 14. A vendor that only repackages features has nothing like this. I found no equivalent public dataset from Ranketta, though I may have missed one.
2. Real interface or API-only collection?
AI answers shown to users can differ from API outputs. Ask the vendor how they collect. Promptwatch says it monitors the real interfaces of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and others, and tracks API models alongside for training-data views. See its explanation of how data is collected. Ranketta's collection method wasn't clear from what I read, so ask.
3. Are crawlers verified by IP?
Spoofed user agents inflate bot counts. Only requests whose source IP matches the operator's published ranges should count. Promptwatch's AI crawler logs work this way. Ranketta mentions bot traffic attribution via Cloudflare, but I couldn't confirm whether it verifies by IP.
4. How are prompts counted?
Per model or across all models, as covered above. It can change the real cost by a factor of two to five.
5. Who is the product built for?
Look at currency, customer logos and testimonials. A product-feed tool with European retail customers solves a different problem than a brand-level platform for SaaS, finance or media teams. Different buyer, different product, even with a similar feature list.
6. Date-stamp every price
Write down where and when you saw a number. Third-party roundups go stale fast.
Caveats on Promptwatch itself
Nobody gets a free pass. A YouTube reviewer comparing Promptwatch with RadarKit in October 2026 raised questions about data accuracy and the depth of source analysis. That is one reviewer's view, and I can't adjudicate it from here.

Also, Promptwatch's own "Best GEO Tools in 2026" post ranks itself first and doesn't include Ranketta among its seven. It discloses that Promptwatch authored the post, which is fair, but it is still a vendor ranking. Its framework is useful though: a GEO tool earns its price when it covers four jobs, which are measuring visibility, diagnosing why pages get skipped, creating the content that fills the gap, and verifying that AI crawlers picked up the fix.

Which one fits which team
Ranketta may fit if
- You run an online store or D2C brand and your main problem is product data quality in AI answers
- You want a low entry price (EUR 29/mo) and a merchandising workflow
- You're in the European retail market where its customer base sits
Promptwatch may fit if
- You need brand-level tracking across many engines, including Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn citation reports
- You want crawler logs, visitor analytics and content publishing in one loop, and proof a fix worked
- You're an agency, or you need local targeting, Ads Radar or ISO/IEC 27001-certified procurement
For e-commerce teams that need both, Promptwatch also has ChatGPT Shopping insights on Business. If you want to see where you stand before paying anyone, the free AI visibility report runs without a login, and the paid plans have a 7-day trial.
Other tools worth a look
If you're shopping around, these appear in the same category. I haven't tested all of them equally, so treat this as a starting list, not a ranking.

For a wider scan, the AI rank tracking directory at ai-rank-tools.com lists many more.
The bottom line
Ranketta isn't a Promptwatch copycat on the evidence I found. It shares features that every GEO tool now shares, and it aims at a different buyer with a product-feed approach. Where the two really differ is depth of first-party data and crawler analytics, which favor Promptwatch, and product-catalog merchandising, which is Ranketta's pitch.
Run the six checks on whoever you're considering, convert prompt limits to comparable units, and book the trial before you commit to a year.
