Profound vs Promptwatch vs Peec AI: Total Cost of Ownership Over 12 Months (2026)

What do Profound, Promptwatch and Peec AI really cost over a year? List prices, seats, prompt limits, annual discounts and the hidden costs that sticker prices leave out, plus a 12-month math table.

Key takeaways

  • Promptwatch and Peec AI both start at $95/month, and both publish a price ladder you can budget against. Profound no longer publishes a self-serve price, so you need a quote.
  • At the 350-prompt tier, Peec Advanced ($495) is about $84/month cheaper than Promptwatch Business ($579). Promptwatch adds hourly tracking, crawler logs, Ads Radar and the Content Agent.
  • The $99 Starter and $399 Growth Profound prices still circulate in blog posts and Reddit threads, but they no longer appear on Profound's brand pricing page. Treat them as historical.
  • The sticker price is the smaller part of TCO. Seats, agent credits, annual-only billing, and the cost of fixing what the dashboard shows you can move the real number a lot.
  • If you only need a dashboard, Peec is the cheapest route. If you want the fixing done too, the comparison changes.

Why sticker price misleads

I have watched teams pick an AI visibility tool based on the entry price, then realize six months later that the entry price bought a dashboard and nothing else. Someone still has to write the pages, fix the crawl errors, and prove the traffic matters. That labor has a cost, and it belongs in a 12-month TCO.

So this guide does two things. First, it lays out the list-price math for each tool over twelve months. Second, it lists the costs the pricing pages leave out. One caveat up front: Profound's price is not public, so any number for it here is either historical or a placeholder until you get a quote.

A note on sourcing. Promptwatch figures come from its pricing page. Peec figures come from third-party comparisons (SEO Stuff read them on October 7, 2026, and Peec's own page loads prices dynamically), so confirm on peec.ai before you buy. Prices change, so verify on each vendor's site.

The three tools in one paragraph each

Peec AI is a Berlin-built tracker that runs a fixed prompt set daily across a few models and gives you unlimited users on every plan. It is clean, cheap and deliberately narrow.

Profound is the enterprise play: up to nine answer engines, Prompt Volumes, Agent Analytics, an AI Marketer agent, SSO and SOC 2. It is priced by conversation.

Promptwatch tracks the real UIs of ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and more, then goes further than tracking. It has IP-verified crawler logs, visitor analytics, a Content Agent that publishes to Webflow, Framer or WordPress, and an Action Board of prioritized fixes. Promptwatch is the platform 1001 SEO Media uses for its own GEO work.

SEO Stuff three-way comparison of Peec AI and Profound pricing and positioning

The SEO Stuff comparison above lays out Peec's ladder and Profound's missing one in the same format, which is useful when you are preparing a procurement summary.

The 12-month math

This is list price only, no add-ons, no tax. Annual figures apply each vendor's discount.

TierPromptwatch, monthlyPromptwatch, annual (12 for 10)Peec, monthlyPeec, annual (15% off)
~50 prompts$1,140$950$1,140~$969
~150 prompts$2,940$2,450$2,940~$2,499
~350 prompts$6,948$5,790$5,940~$5,049

A few things jump out.

At 50 and 150 prompts the two are identical on monthly billing, and Promptwatch is slightly cheaper on annual billing because its discount is a little deeper. At 350 prompts, Peec is cheaper by roughly $84 a month, or about $1,000 over a year on monthly billing and about $740 on annual billing.

Profound is the blank column. The historical Growth tier ($399/month, three engines, 100 unique prompts, 9,000 responses, billed yearly only) would have come to $4,788 over twelve months. But that tier is no longer on Profound's brand pricing page, so use it as a rough ceiling for what a small deployment might have cost, not as a quote. A figure of $2,000+ a month floats around from a third-party estimate. I would not budget around that either. Ask for a quote and get it in writing.

Cost per prompt

At the 350-prompt tier, Peec Advanced works out to about $1.41 per prompt per month and Promptwatch Business to about $1.65. That is a real gap if tracking is all you want. It narrows once you count what each plan includes (more on that below).

What the sticker price leaves out

Seats

Peec gives you unlimited users on every plan. Profound's brand plans also list unlimited seats. Promptwatch limits seats by tier (1 on Essential, 2 on Professional, 5 on Business per the plan details), with agency plans at 10. If you have a large team that all wants a login, this matters. If three people look at the dashboard, it does not.

Agent credits and overage

Profound's agents run on credits. Overage can be set to continue with billing or pause when the allotment runs out, and credits beyond the standard allotment require an Enterprise package. That makes the true monthly cost variable. Promptwatch includes Agent Credits on every paid plan (500 on Essential, 1,500 on Professional, 2,500 on Business), with add-ons available. Peec has no agent layer at all, so there is nothing to meter, but also nothing to use.

Billing commitments

Profound's earlier self-serve plans were billed yearly only. That means a 12-month commitment up front, and if the tool does not fit by month three, you have paid for nine months of regret. Peec and Promptwatch both let you pay monthly, and both offer a trial or low-risk entry.

Projects, countries and models

Peec's Starter caps you at 3 of 6 models; Claude, DeepSeek, Qwen and Mistral unlock only on Enterprise. Multi-country tracking arrives at Advanced. Promptwatch includes country tracking from Essential, state and city tracking on Business, and all active models on every paid plan. One caveat: Promptwatch's own comparison post mentions 4 tracked platforms per project while the pricing page says all models, so confirm the exact model count when you trial it. Also note that comparison is vendor-authored, so read it with that in mind.

Response volume

Prompts are not the only meter. Each prompt runs across models and days, so responses add up fast. Promptwatch publishes response limits (6,000, 18,000 and 42,000 on the three plans). Promptwatch Data shows that ChatGPT cites about 5 sources per web-search answer while Google AI Overviews and Perplexity cite about 10, per Promptwatch's average sources per response data. More sources per answer means more citations to sort through, so check response limits, not just prompt counts.

The cost nobody budgets: doing something about it

This is the part where TCO gets honest.

Peec tells you where you are mentioned and cited. It does not include crawler logs, content gap analysis or content creation. That is not a flaw, it is a scope decision, and for many teams it is the right one. But you then pay for the fix somewhere else: a freelancer, an in-house writer, an agency retainer, or another subscription.

A rough way to think about it. If a tracking-only tool saves you $1,000 a year against a tool with built-in content and crawler tooling, but you then spend $500 a month on outside content production, the cheaper tool cost more. If you already have a strong content team and a technical SEO who can read server logs, the tracker-only route wins on pure price.

AI crawler access is a good example. Promptwatch's IP-verified crawler logs show whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot are hitting errors on your pages. Without that, you discover the problem when someone asks why a page never gets cited. Promptwatch Data tracks these crawlers weekly in its AI crawler traffic report, and the mix shifts quickly enough that guessing is a poor strategy.

Profound sits in between. It has Agent Analytics and an AI Marketer agent that drafts content from what it finds, which makes it closer to Promptwatch in ambition, but the price and credit rules are opaque until you sign.

Three 12-month scenarios

Scenario 1: lean in-house team, one brand

You have a writer, an SEO, and a $500/month ceiling.

Peec Starter or Pro on annual billing is about $969 to $2,499 a year. Promptwatch Essential on annual billing is $950, and Professional is $2,450. The numbers are almost identical, so the decision is about scope: Peec for clean reporting with unlimited seats, Promptwatch if you want crawler logs, visitor analytics and the Action Board included on the cheaper plans. The Essential plan includes site audit, 360 Insights and content gap analysis; Professional adds content writing and refresh and crawler logs.

Scenario 2: mid-size team that wants content shipped

You track about 350 prompts and want content produced at volume.

Peec Advanced is about $5,049 a year annually, plus whatever you pay for content production elsewhere. Promptwatch Business is $5,790 a year annually and includes 10 AEO articles a month, the automated Content Agent, local GEO targeting, Ads Radar and Shopping Insights. Crisp, a Promptwatch customer, scaled to 5-10 articles per day and reported 2x higher conversion rates from AI traffic than from other channels. Your results will vary, but the point is that the extra ~$740 a year may replace a larger line item.

Scenario 3: enterprise with security requirements

SSO, SOC 2, procurement reviews, multiple markets.

Profound Enterprise and Promptwatch Enterprise are both custom-priced. Promptwatch is ISO/IEC 27001 certified and GDPR compliant, with SSO on Enterprise. Profound lists SSO/SAML and SOC 2. Peec reaches 13 models on Enterprise. In this tier, get three written quotes and compare on contract length, credit overage terms, and exit rights, not headline price.

Agencies

Agency pricing is its own calculation.

Promptwatch agency plans do not include AEO articles, the Knowledge Base, the Content Agent or 360 Insights, so check that the plan fits your workflow before you commit.

Pitfalls to check before you sign

  • Ask Profound for the credit allotment, overage rules, and whether the term is annual only.
  • Confirm Peec's current prices on its own page, since third-party sources are reading a dynamic page.
  • Confirm Promptwatch's model count and seat numbers for your tier during the 7-day trial.
  • Count your real number of prompts. Most teams start at 100 to 200 and grow.
  • Budget for the fix, not just the measurement.

A quick decision guide

One more place to look: the AI rank tracking directory lists other trackers if none of these three fits your budget.

The bottom line

Over twelve months, Peec and Promptwatch land within a few hundred dollars of each other at every tier, and Profound is a question mark until you get a quote. So price alone will not decide this. Decide what happens after the dashboard: if you already have people and process to act on the data, Peec's lower cost per prompt wins. If you want the acting done in the same product, run Promptwatch's 7-day trial against your real prompts, and get Profound's written quote before you compare anything else.
